Overview:

This spectacular footbridge spans between the Selfridges building and the car park in the New Bull Ring in Birmingham.

Watson Steel were responsible for the supply and installation of the complete bridge including the transport cladding system.

The lightweight bridge is 50m long and curved on plan and supported by stainless steel tie rods.  The fabrication of the deck was very complicated including doubly curved plates with internal diaphragm at close centres.

The bridge was erected during a night-time closure of the busy street below.
